Cautions

If you take a vitamin K antagonist such as warfarin, consult your doctor before use. Vitamin K can change how these medications work.

If you are pregnant or nursing, take medication (including statins, steroids, thiazide diuretics or orlistat), or have a medical condition, consult a healthcare professional before use.
Stop taking it and talk to a healthcare professional if you notice any adverse reaction.

FAQ

Is 5,000 IU too much?

It is above the 4,000 IU (100 mcg) daily upper limit the National Academies set for adults, the highest daily intake considered unlikely to cause harm for almost everyone. Some people need more under medical supervision, usually after a blood test shows a low level. Ask your healthcare provider to check your 25-hydroxyvitamin D and count any vitamin D from other supplements.

Why take D3 and K2 together?

Vitamin D helps you absorb calcium, and vitamin K activates osteocalcin, a protein that binds calcium in bone.† Taking them together covers both in one capsule.

Why MK-7 instead of K1?

MK-7 stays in the blood for days rather than hours, so daily doses build up to steadier levels. In a comparison study, MK-7 also activated osteocalcin more completely than K1.

I take warfarin. Can I use this?

Only with your doctor's approval. Vitamin K affects how warfarin works, and studies suggest 50 mcg a day or more of MK-7 can make a meaningful difference. This capsule has 100 mcg.

Should I take it with food?

The label does not specify, so take it whenever you will remember it each day.

Is it vegan?

The capsule is vegetarian. The label does not say vegan, and vitamin D3 is often made from lanolin from sheep's wool, so ask us before buying if you avoid all animal-derived ingredients.

Does more vitamin D mean better results?

Not if you already have enough. In the large VITAL trial, vitamin D supplements did not change bone outcomes in generally healthy adults who were not low in vitamin D. Vitamin D supports normal bones;† a blood test tells you whether you need more.

Where and how is it made?

In the USA, with globally sourced ingredients, in an NPA GMP-certified, third-party audited, FDA-registered facility that follows FDA's cGMP rules for dietary supplements (21 CFR Part 111).

Can I take it with other MAXIS products?

Yes. It pairs with Ultra Omega-3, Creatine and Clear Fiber, which contain no vitamin D or K. Count any vitamin D from a multivitamin or other supplement.

Who should check with a doctor first?

Anyone pregnant or nursing, taking warfarin or another vitamin K antagonist, statins, steroids, thiazide diuretics or orlistat, or managing a medical condition.

Can I use it if I compete in a tested sport?

This product does not carry a banned-substance certification such as NSF Certified for Sport or Informed Sport. If you compete under anti-doping rules, check with your governing body before using any supplement.

What research is behind the ingredients?

  1. Researchers compared synthetic vitamin K1 with MK-7 from natto in healthy volunteers. MK-7 had a much longer half-life, gave more stable blood levels and built up 7 to 8 times higher with daily intake, and it activated osteocalcin more completely. The authors also warned that 50 mcg a day or more of MK-7 may meaningfully interfere with oral anticoagulants.

  2. In VITAL, a large randomized trial of generally healthy midlife and older adults who were not selected for low vitamin D, vitamin D supplements did not change bone outcomes compared with placebo. Vitamin D still matters for normal bones;† the trial suggests extra vitamin D adds nothing for people who already have enough.
