FAQ

What is the difference between EPA, DHA and omega-3?

Omega-3 is the family. EPA and DHA are the two long-chain omega-3s found mainly in fish. This serving has 1,020 mg of omega-3 in total, of which 660 mg is EPA and 310 mg is DHA.

Is 970 mg of EPA and DHA a safe amount?

Yes for most adults. The FDA has concluded that supplements providing up to 5 g of EPA and DHA a day are safe when used as recommended.

Will it give me fishy burps?

Some people notice a fishy aftertaste, which is the most common side effect of fish oil. Taking the softgels with a meal helps.

I take a blood thinner. Can I use it?

Ask your doctor first. Fish oil can affect clotting time, although most research finds 3 to 6 g a day of fish oil does not significantly change anticoagulant status.

What about mercury?

Mercury builds up the food chain, so small fish such as anchovy and sardine carry far less than large predators. The oil is also molecularly distilled, a purification step for fish oil.

Is it vegetarian?

No. The softgel shell is made with bovine (beef) gelatin, and the oil comes from fish.

Where and how is it made?

In the USA, with globally sourced ingredients, in an NPA GMP-certified, third-party audited, FDA-registered facility that follows FDA's cGMP rules for dietary supplements (21 CFR Part 111). The oil comes from wild-caught anchovy, sardine and mackerel, is molecularly distilled and stays in its natural triglyceride form.

When should I take it?

Two softgels a day with a meal. Any meal works; food helps with aftertaste.

Who should check with a doctor first?

Anyone pregnant or nursing, taking a blood thinner or other medication, or with a heart rhythm condition. Not for anyone with a fish allergy.

Can I use it if I compete in a tested sport?

This product does not carry a banned-substance certification such as NSF Certified for Sport or Informed Sport. If you compete under anti-doping rules, check with your governing body before using any supplement.
